Who are we?

Maxmaber Orkestar, an Italo/Bosnian/Croatian band, begins its journey in Triest, a traditional crossroads for different cultures and populations, junction between latin, slavic and germanic cultures and natural gateway between East and West Europe.
Voice, accordion, soprano sax, guitars, bağlama, trumpet, drumset  and double bass to whisk away the audience in a journey through the Easter European and Mediterranean folk music. Klezmer, gypsy and balkan music, old italian songs and a bit of jazz blend together in a happy and melancholic sound. A musical path that flows naturally into the original scores, with lyrics in triestine dialect. In a world dominated by the standardized and iterative music of commercial pop-rock, by the monotonous beat of 4/4 time, Maxmaber Orkestar will seduce you through unusual and enveloping rhythms, archaic melodies and swinging dances.
Maxmaber Orkestar has performed at the Waves Festival in Denmark, the Klezmer Festival in Ancona, the Folkest in Friuli, the Venice Carnival, the International Festival in Goražde, the Kid’s Festival in Sarajevo, the Montecatini Campus, the Luka Praha Festival in Czech Republic, the Ten Years Anniversary of Osservatorio Balcani, The Jazz Etno Funky Festival in Koper, “Radicazioni” in Calabria and many other events. Travelling across Italy, from South Tirol to Sicily, from Liguria to Salento and further in Europe, from Scandinavia to Spain up to Bosnia Herzegovina.
The Maxmaber project was born in 2003 with "Fuori dal Bordo", a tragicomic pièce about childhood and kindergarten, as the first “total institution”. The play “Il tempo della festa” (“celebration time”), written and staged with actress Roberta Biagiarelli, has been performed in Italy and in Srebrenica (BiH). Maxmaber Orkestar was also involved in several art exhibitions, theatrical performances, cultural and political events. In 2009 it started a collaboration with the group of writers Wu Ming for the presentation of their book “Altai”.
Maxmaber Orkestar was guest in many italian and international radio and television broadcastings (among them RAI Radio2, Radio3 and RAI International) and produced the musical soundtrack for various short movies and documentaries.
"Ancheniente!", the first album, was released in 2003; the second album, "Ajde Jano!" in 2007 and the third album, "Malinkovec in corte Fedrigovez", in February 2011.
